Bones & Tendons
-- inspired by how tendons attach to bone. These rings take on extended and exaggerated shapes that balance pure, untouched “bone” elements with the winding organic “tendons” that wrap around and overtake.   focusing on bringing forms within us to the surface and preserving them in metal. As in most dualities, they not independent, attached to each other within the body. One provides structure, the other flexibility; together they create the foundation of an organism. Through the making of this collection I questioned how we wear rings in an attempt to subvert the standard comfort we are used to with jewelry.  They explore dualities within our physcial bodies and those surrounding us, a materialization of our inner most selves.

These rings are not for the casual.

Treat them and your interactions with them carefully.

PIERCED

The pierced collection started when I became more aware of how often i mess around with my piercings. I was thinking of how piercings are a very interesting case of how our bodies adapt to coexisting with other materials and products. The intense violent action of piercing your skin is then followed by extra care and attention to both body and metal. An unnatural pairing becomes deeply connected over time through healing, and transforms the person, the piercing becoming a part of their identity. This connection between body and product inspired me to create these rings that play on the idea of them being a body to be pierced then to be worn, adding a multitude of layers to the theme of introspective intimacy.

This act of piercing and its lasting physical and emotional effects reflects how intense things can grow to comfort us and become important parts of our identities.

INTIMA

A collection of bags that explores the intimate relationship between the wearer and the objects we choose to surround and adorn ourselves with. Inspired by duality and paradox, the collection explores how materiality, form, and symbolism can be used to express how adornment can become an extension of the self, revealing our innermost layers, both physical and emotional.
